Phylum

 

Okapis belong to the phylum chordata, meaning a group of animals that possess a hollow dorsal nerve cord, pharyngeal slits, an endostyle, and a post-analtail at some point in their lives.  They also belong to the subphylum vertebrata, which means they possess backbones.
