. The leopard is the only natural predator of the okapi

 

. A scent gland on each okapi's foot leaves behind a sticky substance for others to detect and know that it's their territory

 

. Okapis stayed hidden for so long because of their ability to "hold it" and not defecate for a month, the stripes on their hindquarters that are perfect camoflague, and naturally hidden homes in dense forests

 

. Okapis are loners and only come together for reproductive purposes
 

. Adult okapis are typically quiet, but as babies they bleat, whistle, moo, and cough frequently
